Q & A's on KNOWLEDGE

Q: The knowledge that you share here is very rare and different. What is knowledge?
Maharaj:

Knowledge means just to identify oneself in a real sense. Knowledge means to know oneself in a real sense, and
not in the body-form. It is basically true knowledge of oneself, Self-Knowledge. So, identify yourself in a real sense.

Q: What do you mean by “real sense”?

Maharaj:

We are knowing ourselves at present in the body-form with the mind, ego, intellect, and so many concepts. But
you are beyond that. Your Presence is not that. This knowledge is a direct approach to the  invisible, anonymous
listener.

Maharaj:

How long have you known yourself as a body-form? How long is this body-form going to last? OK, we have
certain information, but this knowledge is body-knowledge, dry knowledge. Unless you know yourself in a real
sense, knowledge is not there. Nisargadatta Maharaj says “all these things, all these words that are used about

God, about spirituality, this life, the afterlife, so many things... about this, about that, about the future. All these
words and concepts are related to body-knowledge”.

Q: So, what you are saying is that everything that we have learned and studied and experienced, all the
knowledge we have amassed over the years is not real knowledge, not true knowledge. It is all just what

you refer to as “body-knowledge”?

Maharaj:

Of course, of course. You see, prior to beingness, you were totally unaware of anything and everything. You were
not even knowing the word ‘knowledge’ because you were not knowing yourself. You were not bothered with the
body-form at all. But the moment the spirit clicked with the body, self-identification began. Conditioning

started when eg, Mom said "you are a lady, or you are Ravi, this is Sita, there is John", and so on. And as you
heard the various statements that were made about you, you accepted them without question. Over time, the
layers of impressions that were formed since childhood, moulded you. (You bought into the illusory world of body
knowledge, and took it all for real.)

Maharaj:

So, what we are doing here is, inviting the attention of the silent, invisible, anonymous listener within you,
(addressing your Reality, prior to beingness, and prior to the formation of illusory layers and superimpositions).
Maharaj:

We are inviting the attention of the silent, invisible, anonymous listener. You are Ultimate Truth, you are Final
Truth. The silent, invisible, anonymous listener - Reality – You are That!
Though you cannot really indicate Ultimate Truth, we need to use some words that come close to pointing to that
Reality, so don't hang onto the words and take them literally.

Maharaj:

When we are talking in conversation, or having a discussion, you have to use words to get the sense, the
principle, the gist, the essential meaning of words. What does a particular word wish to convey? People come
here and they want to discuss things and hold a debate. There is no debate.

THE KNOWLEDGE THAT IS BEING SHARED HERE, IS DIRECT,

TRUE, AND NOT UP FOR DEBATE.

Q: Maharaj, I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you realized?

Maharaj:

This is a silly question. How are you going to consider if someone else is realized or not? You have to see whether
you are realized or not, and not compare this Master, with that Master, with that other Master. This question is
an unnecessary question, a body-based question.

Instead of asking this, focus on you! What is your purpose? You have to come out of this whole illusionary world.
And when you know yourself, when this happens, the world (body-knowledge), will gradually lessen. But for this,
serious involvement is required.

Question! Self-enquire! You have to come out of the illusionary picture, the illusionary world. The things which
are not present, (do not exist), you blindly sign up for, (and accept as real).

Q:
So, how do I become self-realized? What I mean is how do I get there?
Maharaj:

There is no 'becoming', no 'you', and nothing to 'get'.
In the first instance, all body-based knowledge has to be

dissolved. Then, only after clearing out all this knowledge, will Ultimate Truth emerge and come out. What I'm

telling you just now will come out of you spontaneously - without your knowledge, and you will exclaim Oh!

This knowledge is flowing. It will just happen.

Maharaj:

So stop considering yourself as the body-form. Impressions (eg elements of conditioning), need to be dissolved
and erased. You must have complete trust in yourself, as well as in your Master. This is basically what is needed.
Nisargadatta Maharaj had strong faith in his Master, Siddharameshwar Maharaj, too. So don't stress your mind

or the brain, for it will happen spontaneously.

Q:
Yesterday, when you were speaking, Maharaj, there was clarity, and what was said was just right for that
moment. You were speaking direct to the... which I wasn't fully aware of, but then afterwards ... it was like aha!
You know? You said the right things at the right time - direct knowledge. But it wasn't just what you conveyed...
For a moment, it was as if the listener and the speaker united, merged, and there was Oneness. It went beyond
words.

Maharaj:

Beyond words, beyond worlds. Plain Truth is being spoken here. No hide and seek. This knowledge is direct
knowledge and a direct approach.
"Listen carefully again : THIS IS NOT AN INTELLECTUAL APPROACH,
NOT A LOGICAL APPROACH,

NOT AN EGOISTIC APPROACH,

AS
ALL THESE THINGS CAME AFTER YOUR PRESENCE
